avril 24, 2023The Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Livestock, and Fishery Resources, Mr. Mohamed Ahmed Awaleh, presided over the signing ceremony of an agreement aimed at exporting seafood on Tuesday.
The agreement was signed between the Djiboutian company Djibah Sea Foods and two Saudi companies, represented respectively by Mr. Waleed Muzaffar of JIZAN and Mr. Naif Al Ajlan, owner of the vessel named DOX, which will be one of the suppliers to the Djiboutian company.
The agreement stipulates the creation of a joint working framework in the field of packaging and exporting seafood abroad.
« The products intended for export will be entirely processed and packaged in Djibouti, » the Minister of Agriculture stated to RTD reporters.
« This is a significant step forward for a private national company, » emphasized Mr. Mohamed Ahmed Awaleh.
It is important to highlight that DJIBAH Seafoods Company is a Djiboutian company specializing in the exploitation, processing, packaging, and export of seafood products. It is the only company in the region with access to international markets, notably thanks to the quality of its products, which are certified by international standards.
Inaugurated in 2019 by President Ismail Omar Guelleh, DJIBAH Seafoods already exports its products to Europe, Canada, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and the Far East.
Finally, it should be noted that the Republic of Djibouti has a significant fishery potential estimated at around 48,000 tons per year, of which 9,300 tons are composed of high-value marine species.
